Barbara Baumann is president of Cross Creek Energy Corporation of Denver, Colorado, where she is a consultant to and direct investor in U.S. energy companies. Prior to 2003, she was an Executive Vice President for Associated Energy Managers, an oil and gas private equity manager. From 1981 through 1999 Barbara worked for Amoco Corporation and several of its subsidiaries, including as Vice President of the company’s San Juan Basin Business Unit, one of the company’s six exploration and production businesses in North America.
Barbara is a director of two NYSE-listed companies: Devon Energy Corporation, an exploration and production company headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and UNS Energy Corporation, an electric generation and distribution utility headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. She also is on the board of privately held Cody Resources, LP, a ranching and energy company headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Barbara is an independent trustee of the Putnam Mutual Funds and chairs its Distributions Committee. She formerly served on the boards of publicly-listed SM Energy Company and CVR Energy Corporation.
Barbara is actively involved with local non-profits, serving on both the Finance Committee of Children’s Hospital Colorado and the board of Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver, where she formerly served as Board Chair. Barbara is also a board member of The Denver Foundation, where she chairs the Investment Committee for its $650+ million endowment. She is a member of the Colorado Forum.
Barbara recently concluded three terms as a trustee of Mount Holyoke College; at different points in her 15 year board tenure she chaired the board’s Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and Education Committee. She also co-chaired the College’s $300 million capital campaign. Barbara currently serves as the vice chair of the Investment Committee for the College’s $700 million endowment.
Barbara holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a magna cum laude graduate of Mount Holyoke College.
Barbara is married to Fred Baumann, an attorney, and has an adult son, Peter, who lives in Washington DC.
