Christy Bieber Orris is an active investor and entrepreneur through Peak-to-Peak Investments. Her newest ventures are brackitz, a building toy company that empowers and challenges our next generation of engineers and architects and Sun Cups, a premium allergen-free chocolate company.
Christy was the CEO of the ATEK Companies from 2001-2011, a privately owned management company, that owned and ran various outsource and product based companies. Employing over 700 people, ATEK Companies had six manufacturing facilities with revenues exceeding $140 million.
Their anchor company, ATEK Medical, was purchased from Medtronic’s Cardiac Surgery business in 2003. Orris and her team developed ATEK Medical into one of the leading finished device medical outsource suppliers in the world. Its customer base included Medtronic, Boston Scientific, J&J, Smith & Nephew and other leading OEMs. They specialized in sole source production of complex disposable and implantable medical devices. ATEK Medical and its sister company, ATEK Plastics, were sold to Vention Medical/KRG in November, 2011.
Before ATEK, Christy was President of Regent Aviation, worked in operations at Baxter Healthcare and in brand management at General Mills. She received her MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth and BS in marketing and international business at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
From 2008-2011, Christy chaired the board of University of Colorado, Leed’s School of Business and later transitioned onto the Dean’s CEO Cabinet. She was awarded the Alumni Service Award at the University and frequently speaks on campus and mentors students. Christy is an Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow and board member, member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and is now bringing the Aspen Seminar to the Leeds Scholar’s Program.
She is a member and previous board member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and a member of YPO Women’s International Network and the Committee of 200. She was one of Boulder’s 40 Under 40 in 2010.
After selling the ATEK Companies in 2011, Christy travelled around the world for a year with her family and is now restoring a historic ranch, investing and building a new series of companies. She is an avid bike racer, skier and ex-Hawaii Ironman competitor. Christy resides in Boulder, Colorado with her husband and two sons.
