Mark is a global, C-level leader with a consistent record of leading turnarounds and growing under performing business divisions of multi-billion dollar international technology companies. He has built and led teams of 1500+ across Europe, U.S., Asia and South America. He has created high return mobility solutions, Data Center managed services, and designed and implemented strategic technology investments for Big Data-Hadoop, Web Services, Agile methodologies, SaaS and PaaS solutions that have yielded $100’s of millions in efficiencies/cost savings. Mark has strong financial management expertise having lead multiple direct investment, JV, asset sale and alliance transactions with IBM, Accenture, Oracle, HP and MSFT with deal sizes over $1B. Further, as CEO of a start up and a sales leader for a Fortune 250 company, he built high performance sales teams and developed innovative marketing, advertising, PR and sponsorship programs.

In his most recent position as Global CIO at LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, Mark transformed the 1,500 person IT organization into a value driven delivery and operations group. He delivered a ~40% improvement in running costs and a 30% increase in discretionary development investment, pioneered Agile software delivery, improved service availability to 99.99%, led OSS/BSS and data center integration of a $2.8B acquisition, and implemented IT investment prioritization governance. He made these accomplishments by implementing and pioneering technology innovation in Mobility, Online, Big Data, Agile Delivery, Data Center Automation and Social Networking.

Prior to being recruited to Level 3, Mark was CIO & CTO BT Business for BT GROUP in London, England. As the leader of the £3.5b technology delivery and innovation group, he created and executed a transformation strategy that improved delivery cycle time by 40% and generated a 18+% YoY improvement in cost/output ratio, and served as the M&A technology lead for the £9b BT Retail business unit. He joined BT as Director of Strategy and Transformation, where he increased BT.com online transactions by ~50%, significantly improved revenues and margins, and led a strategic negotiations team closing multiple complex technology transactions worth over £50M in EBITDA contributions.

In his previous career, Mark was Senior Director IT Development, Security at QWEST COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION, with earlier positions there as Senior Director Strategy Alliances and Partnerships; General Manager, Product Management; and Senior Director, Corporate Business Development. Earlier, Mark had diverse functional leadership roles as Sales Manager at MFS-WORLDCOM, Marketing Director at EUROPEAN FORMULA DRIVERS ASSOCIATION, and Founder and CEO at NET SPORTSWEAR where he raised five rounds of financing for this clothing design and manufacturing start up.

Mark currently serves on Board positions with the State of Colorado, and for several privately held technology firms. He received his B.S. in Marketing from the University of Arizona, and his MBA with a specialization in International Business from University of Denver.
