Tim Shanahan has practiced the art and science of brand and innovation for over 30 years: managing profit centers, consulting for established and emerging businesses, and working with private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
Tim began his career in various marketing roles at companies like YUM Brands, Sealy Corporation and KeyBank. Roles included creating and running a new concepts group, leading consumer insights and serving as a key strategic planning member. No matter what his role, Tim found himself in the center of innovation - whether creating a Stuffed Crust Pizza for pizza enthusiasts, redesigning the Posturetech Coil for the sleep deprived or developing a Flexible Line of Credit for small businesses.
Tim joined the Sterling-Rice Group, a Boulder-based brand and innovation consultancy, in 1999 and became manager partner in 2004. He led several practices during the years including innovation, account and media teams. He developed one of the consultancies largest more diverse client portfolios including such brands as WhiteWave, Small Planet Foods, Wendy’s, Domino’s, Jack in the Box, Qdoba, Camelbak, Bridgestone and Spalding to name a few. It was during this time that Tim consulted with private equity groups and their portfolio companies, which in turn, inspired his newest venture – Shanahan Advisory.
Tim graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Economics and shortly thereafter earned his MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in Marketing and Finance.
